  • Four Point Two Liters
"Anybody can make a toaster toast. Very few people can make a toaster something you covet."

Somewhere along the line of attempting to make a more fuel efficient motor and wanting to appeal to everyone, many manufacturers have lost focus on the reason we own such depreciating investments. No one says, "I just love the feeling of 35 miles per gallon." Such details as the curvature of an a-pillar or the finish on a mirror; as simple as possible and yet somehow they addressed more than one of the senses, drawing you in closer. Let's hear it for the last of the automotive designers who simply won't back down and keep us putting photos of cars on our computer desktops just as we did posters as teenagers.

  • Mitsuoka Viewt
The Mitsuoka Viewt is a modification of the Nissan March/Micra, intended to resemble the Jaguar Mark 2. It, along with Mitsuoka's later Galue, encouraged larger Japanese manufacturers to produce retro-styled versions of their own cars. This model was imported by a local car collector and enthusiast, who asked me to find a way to shoot the car in a seemingly natural environment.

  • Toyota Century
The Toyota Century is a large four-door limousine produced mainly for the Japanese market. The Century is produced in limited numbers and is built in a "nearly hand-made" fashion. It is often used by royalty, the Prime Minister of Japan, senior government leaders, and high level executives. I was given the chance to shoot this car by the owner, finding that it seemed the most at home in the evening urban environment.

  • Spring in Columbus
Sometimes the best way to appreciate a city is to see it with new eyes. Columbus has no shortage of residents who enjoy it for what it is and what it could be, but I like to think that there are still little pockets that go unnoticed. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe everything has been seen and documented. But there's no harm in being sure.

  • Wide Open Spaces
Sometimes it's the space itself and not what is filling it, that can be so overwhelming. Natural or otherwise, this is an ongoing study of those places.

  • Nostromo Controls Collage
The name Nostromo was chosen for the commercial towing spaceship featured in Ridley Scott's Alien. Taken from British novelist Joseph Conrad's work of the same name, and often thought to be derived from the Italian translation meaning "mate" or "boatswain." Others believe it might be a combination of the Italian words "nostro" and "uomo", meaning "our man." Regardless, it will forever be burned into my memory as a part of one of the best films to come out of the late 1970's, redefining the genre of science fiction, drama and horror.
